• Lower power range - CCS C-Line: For the private to semi-public sector, such as carports, company parking lots, restaurants, retail and public parking garages, the CSS Type 1 and CSS Type 2 charging standards are used. The charging power (nominal operation) here is 40 kW...80 kW. The charging cables do not have a replaceable mating face and are not cooled.

• Medium power range: For semi-public to public areas, such as company parking lots, restaurants, retail stores, public parking garages and gas stations, the CSS Type 1, CSS Type 2 and GB/T charging standards are used. The charging power (nominal mode) here is 80 kW...250 kW. In boost mode, it can be increased to 500 kW. The charging cables have a replaceable mating face and are not cooled.

• Upper Power Range - High Power Charging (HPC): For the public sector, such as HPC fast charging parks, gas stations and rest areas on highways and freeways, one uses the CSS Type 1 and CSS Type 2 charging standards. The charging power (nominal operation) here is 400 kW...500 kW. The charging cables have a replaceable plug-in face and are cooled by a liquid.

High-Power Charging

PHOENIX Contact offers management tools for optimizing charging infrastructure operations under the "Charx manage" series. The whole thing is intended to be an interface between electric car drivers, charging park operators, facility management and backend service providers.

Phoenix Contact's charging management meets the increasing demand for charging options. Due to the increasing number of electric vehicles that need to be charged, the infrastructure must also grow in parallel. Larger parking areas such as parking garages or parking lots are therefore increasingly equipped with charging columns.  

This constant expansion of the infrastructure poses a major challenge to the planners of such charging parks. It is important to be able to charge as many vehicles as possible simultaneously with the given connection. The scalable software solution from Phoenix Contact is used for this purpose.

The modular AC charging sockets CHARX connect modular from Phoenix Contacts are designed for use in charging stations and wallboxes. They enable AC charging of electric vehicles via mobile AC charging cables with an output of up to 22 kW.

With the clever modular system, you can freely combine the components of your wallbox or charging station and thus decide on the design, functionality and charging power. The charging socket and the protective cover are available in various common combinations, but also individually in other variants.
The AC charging sockets are designed for one-handed operation so that you can easily open the protective cover with the charging plug without needing a second hand. This small feature makes the charging process easier and is appreciated by many of our customers.

In addition, the charging sockets have an LED status indicator integrated into the protective cover. This display allows users to see the availability and status of the charging station at a glance. The LEDs can be freely controlled via pulse width modulation, allowing you to configure an individual color for each status of your charging point that matches your corporate design.

• Tpye 2* : This variant is used in the European, Australian, Indian, Arab and South African regions, among others. The charging power is 5 kW...26.6 kW and the number of phases is 1- or 3-phase. Certifications for this type are VDE and CB.  
• Type GB/T*  :This variant is used in the Chinese regions. The charging power is 4.4 kW...24.4 kW and the number of phases is 1- or 3-phase. This variant also offers a locking option with shackle lock. Certification for this type is CQC.

Compared to the current Mode 3 charging cables, the new "CHARX connect eco" charging cable family impresses with its lower weight due to reduced material usage and more compact dimensions. At market launch, the charging cables are available in the Type 2 charging standard in four power classes from 3.7 to 22kW. Both the variant with open cable end for fixed connection and the mobile variant are available.

The new products comply with the IATF 16949 standard and are reliably protected against water ingress in accordance with IP67. On request, the charging plugs are available with customer logo.

The CHARX connect universal vehicle charging sockets offer a versatile charging solution for electric vehicles, commercial vehicles and mobile machinery. They enable charging with both alternating current and direct current, from low charging power to high power charging. In addition to CCS charging sockets, GB/T variants are also available for the Chinese market.
Developed in accordance with the requirements of the automotive industry according to IATF 16949, these charging sockets offer robust and proven technology for all types of electric vehicles. They are waterproof, dirt and dust resistant according to high IP protection standards.

The vehicle charging sockets have been successfully tested according to ISO 20653 and offer comprehensive protection against water immersion to a depth of up to one meter, splash water, dust ingress and contact. Both the inside and outside of the charging sockets offer this protection, even when the charging flap is open and the charging plug is not plugged in.
The degree of protection of the front area has been tested in various situations. When the vehicle charging socket is open, it offers protection against strong jets of water under increased pressure and when the protective caps are plugged in, it corresponds to the same degree of protection as when it is open. When the charging plug is plugged in, the charging socket offers protection against splashing water on all sides and solid foreign bodies with a diameter ≥1.0 mm in accordance with IP44.
