With CHARX connect advanced, Phoenix Contact presents the world's first CCS vehicle charging socket with integrated charge control – an innovation that redefines charging efficiency, system architecture, and ease of maintenance. The solution combines a charging socket and charge controller in a single component, representing a real step forward for the e-mobility market.
Why CHARX connect advanced?
1. Integrated intelligence – control directly in the inlet
The charge control is embedded directly in the charging socket.
This means:
- No additional external control units
- Fewer interfaces
- More compact vehicle architecture
- Direct communication between vehicle and charging infrastructure
Result: Maximum efficiency and minimum complexity.
2. Maximum performance for demanding applications
The charging socket offers charging capacities of up to 800 A in boost mode and meets all relevant standards and safety requirements – ideal for:
- Electric buses
- E trucks
- Off-road electric vehicles
Depending on the conductor cross-section used, the DC continuous current carrying capacity is 200 A (70 mm²), 250 A (95 mm²) or 400 A (120 mm²) at a DC rated voltage of 1,000 V.
This makes it ideally suited for modern HPC (high power charging) scenarios.
3. Flexible installation and easy maintenance
Thanks to pluggable connections, cables can be easily replaced without the need for extensive dismantling. In addition, three different outlet directions and flexible AC and DC cable cross-sections allow for versatile installation in different vehicle platforms.
4. Robust workmanship for reliable operation
The entire inlet complies with protection class IP67. In the plug area, it guarantees the highest protection classes with IP6K6K and IP6K9K, and the additional protective cover with IPX5 reliably protects the inlet from water jets.
5. User-friendly additional functions
The charging socket offers several convenience-enhancing features, including:
- Folding cover
- Charging stop button
- LED status indicator
- Lighting of the plug-in area
- Temperature sensors
- Locking actuator
These make the charging process safer and more intuitive for end users.
6. Future-proof variants & availability
The CHARX connect advanced will be available in CCS Type 1 and Type 2 standards.
Planned market launch: Q3 2026.
However, samples for testing and integration projects are available and can be ordered now.
The inlet is also available without integrated control as an option.
