Today's trends are opening up new opportunities: Higher efficiency of devices and remote power supply, as well as miniaturization of devices. As an open, scalable Ethernet-based network within an automation system, SPE is the best solution. In the past, it would have taken multiple wires to reach 100 Mbps. Now, with Single Pair Ethernet, only two wires are needed to transmit data and power (PoDL, Power over Data Line).
