Switches from TE Connectivity

A switch is an electromechanical device used to control the current in an electrical circuit. An electrical switch typically consists of an actuator, a moving contact, terminals and a housing. TE switches are an economical, reliable and efficient solution that can withstand extreme shock, vibration, temperature and altitude. The portfolio includes a wide range of switches and switch accessories, including knobs, end caps, lip seals and interlocks.

Circuit Breakers

A circuit breaker is an electrical switch that operates automatically to protect a circuit from overvoltage or short circuit. The main function of a circuit breaker is to interrupt the flow of current when a fault is detected. Depending on their size, circuit breakers can protect something as small as a household appliance, or they can act as a switchgear protecting high-voltage circuits throughout an entire city.

DIP and SIP Switches

TE offers a wide range of DIP switches for surface mount and through-hole mounting. With different types and sizes of actuators, these switches can be used in a variety of applications. Their DIP switches are available in position sizes from 1 to 12.

Rotary Switches

The rotary switch moves in a circle and can stop in multiple positions. Rotary switches are used to control multiple circuits with a single switch, and can be designed to allow multiple simultaneous switches in one switch position. They are typically used when more than two positions are required, such as in a 3-speed fan or a multi-channel CB radio. Our rotary switches are designed for use in harsh environments. They are used in control panels and industrial equipment.

Pushbutton Switches

A pushbutton switch causes a temporary change in the circuit each time the button is pressed. The spring immediately returns the switch to its original position. Pins are usually made of plastic or metal and can be flat or contoured to fit the finger or hand. Also known as spring switches, these switches are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. The wide range of products includes standard pushbuttons as well as IP switches. Their product portfolio includes Alcoswitch and KISSLING switches. Common applications include emergency and alarm switches.

Toggle Switches

A toggle switch is an electrical switch that turns a circuit on or off by moving the handle back and forth. There are two main types of toggle switches: the permanent switch and the momentary switch. A momentary switch changes position when activated and remains in that position until activated again, e.g., on/off function. A spring loaded rocker switch is only activated when someone presses the switch. We design and manufacture a wide range of rocker switches with various mounting options. Our extensive product line includes rocker switches with a variety of actuator types and current ratings from 3 to 20 amps, as well as a wide range of load sensing and interlocking combinations.

Switch Knobs

These switches are control knobs used to control or adjust electronic or electrical devices and are available in many types of rotary switches, encoders and shafts. When attached to the switch, the knob is usually turned counterclockwise to increase the input. These switches are often ribbed or contoured on the sides to provide grip and ease of operation. Most circuit breakers are made of metal, plastic or rubber. They are not separate on/off switches, but usually have a fixed off position at the beginning of the switch movement activated by the pushbutton. In this position, all controlled operation is disabled.

Keylock Switches

The key switch is a rotary switch that provides additional security. The keys can move in one position or in multiple positions. Types of key switches include disk glass, pin glass, wafer tumblers, tubular locks, bunt-bit locks, and double- and single-sided keys. Key switch specifications include two or more switches, single or double sided, spring loaded, on/off, or combinations.

Tactile Switches

TE offers a wide range of tactile switches, from miniature surface mount switches to IP certified tactile switches. TE's tactile switches are available in a variety of actuator lengths and offer customization options for any design application. Tactile switches provide tactile feedback to the user when the switch or button makes contact with the base plate.

Switch Seals & Accessories

The switch seal prevents environmental influences such as dust, sand, water pressure, air pressure, moisture and precipitation from affecting the switch. These seals, also known as protective caps, are typically made of durable, flexible silicone rubber. Circuit breaker gaskets are designed for a variety of military, industrial and commercial applications. They are available in a variety of sizes, materials and colors.

Electromechanical Relays (EMRs) & Solid State Relays (SSRs)

TE Connectivity relays are electronically controlled switches that are remotely controlled by an electromagnet that attracts a series of contacts to close or break a circuit. Electrical relays are commonly used to switch signals, high frequency high current circuits (when low current circuits are used) and loads such as resistive, motor, lamp, inductive and capacitive applications. This is useful when a series switch or circuit cannot handle the required current.
