Products of 696 HEC Series are mainly used exterior in harsh environments. This is why specifications like UV resistance, degree of protection IP68 and IP69K, the opportunity of bayonet locking as well as resistance to shock and vibration are especially important.
Up to now protection could only be guaranteed in mated condition, but equally important is the protection in unmated condition. Therefore many users applied a protective cover which wasn’t fixed at the flange part. The problem with this method was that the protective cover has often been forgotten or got lost. Additionally the cover was easy to get dirty and the mounting exhausting.
For facilitate the use Binder extends its HEC flange socket by a version with hinged cover. The hinged cover is directly mounted to the flange socket and it’s impossible to lose it anymore. Furthermore the protection classes IP68 and IP69K are either guaranteed in unmated condition. The cover is spring-loaded what protects the flange socket without conscious closing against water, dust and other environmental influences and ensures the hinged cover to be in the right position while opening automatically. Simultaneously the new version doesn’t need more space. The installation space correspond to the original “standard design”.
